This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful security company that specialises in Security / Access Control Systems for some of the UK’s largest Utility companies. We are looking for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to help develop the business during an exciting phase of growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop a sound proficiency in quantity surveying skills and practice.
- Develop experience and proficiency in construction methods, processes and the review of commercial / cost implications of all technical and design information.
- Understand the plan of the project.
- Prepare monthly progress valuations of projects.
- Submit timely and accurate variations.
- Understand contract parties’ responsibilities, rights and remedies regarding delaying events.
- Liaise with the Project Manager regarding contractual issues and their potential impact on profitability.
- Adhere to environmental and safety standards.
- Compile subcontract orders and ensure they are properly prepared and signed off.
- Obtain necessary bonds, guarantees and warranties from subcontractors.
- Manage procurement of key subcontracts with emphasis on risk transfer.
- Monitor and review material differences between subcontractor applications and payments, advise to pre-empt adjudications.
- Draft contractual notices for subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
- Understand payment processes under main and subcontracts.
- Implement and maintain records (engineer diaries, programme reports, as‑built records, evidence).
- Process payments and notify subcontractors per Construction Act.
- Gather contractual documentation from subcontractors.
- Attend site visits and client meetings.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of NEC Contracts.
- Understanding of procurement practices and main/subcontract forms.
- Good understanding of cost/value process and reporting.
- HND/HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying desirable.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage relationships with different personalities calmly.
- Detail‑oriented and hardworking.
