About the Role
Job Title: Programme Manager – Modification Flowline (Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week) – Derby
The Modification Flowline Programme Manager coordinates, directs and oversees the portfolio of simple modifications within Civil Aerospace, delivered through a high‑volume flow‑based model.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the single point of accountability for overall programme performance, monitoring, controlling and addressing deviations from plan, while managing risks, dependencies, and change (including re‑sequencing, de‑scoping, and acceleration) in line with Value Stream priorities.
- Chair Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) governance events, ensuring design maturity gates are achieved, quality and airworthiness standards are met, and deliverables are formally accepted at each phase.
- Lead prioritisation and sequencing of modifications in collaboration with Value Stream Programme Executives and the ACT Portfolio Leader, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives and delivery commitments.
- Lead integration across all flowline projects and organisational boundaries, coordinating component modifications and interdependencies to deliver programme outcomes and benefits aligned to Value Stream strategy.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships and communications, influencing expectations, maintaining alignment, and providing clear, structured status reporting to senior stakeholders within the governance framework.
- Lead, coach and develop the team of MFL Project Leads, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities and workload allocation, while promoting a high‑performance culture and programme management professionalism.
- Own and manage the MFL programme budget and MSP operational relationship, ensuring spend control, accurate forecasting, efficient resource utilisation (internal and MSP), and delivery of contracted outputs in line with organisational standards and capacity plans.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in programme or project management within a complex, high‑volume engineering or manufacturing environment, with accountability for delivery, performance and outcomes.
- Recognised programme or project management certification (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent) with strong application of structured governance and delivery frameworks.
- Detailed knowledge and practical application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including leading design maturity gates and ensuring compliance to quality and airworthiness standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading change and transformation initiatives, including driving continuous improvement in cycle time, throughput, quality and operational efficiency.
- Strong experience operating within agile, lean, or flow‑based delivery environments, with a focus on throughput optimisation, waste reduction, and value stream alignment.
- Proven ability to manage cross‑functional stakeholders and influence at senior levels, with experience operating within complex organisational structures and governance frameworks.
- Experience managing programme budgets, resource planning and utilisation (including blended internal and supplier/MSP models), ensuring effective cost control and delivery against capacity plans.
- Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams, with a track record of coaching, performance management and driving a culture of accountability and professionalism.
