Qualifications, Training and Experience Required

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a similar role in a formal childcare setting, or the desire and ability to progress from Nursery Practitioner to Room Leader/Deputy.
• Sound EYFS knowledge and experience.
• Working knowledge of OFSTED standards.
• Ability to work well in partnership with parents/agencies.
• An ability to organise own work and use initiative.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• People management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a staff team, organise the team’s work and assume responsibility for the same.
• Working knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe environment for children.
• Support children’s learning and development.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks around the nursery.
• Help with meal preparation.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with local schools and the community.
• Support children’s behaviour and act as a role model.
• Ensure the environment is stimulating and appropriate, including equal opportunities.
• Assist with the day-to-day general management of the nursery and uphold Policies & Procedures alongside EYFS and statutory guidelines.
• Work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education.
