Senior Quantity Surveyor
About the Role:
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing Building & Infrastructure team. This is a senior position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects while contributing to the continued growth of the business, developing client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of quantity surveyors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cost management and commercial services across a variety of infrastructure and construction projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project & Commercial Delivery
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities and pricing documentation.
- Draft tender documentation, including Suitability Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs).
- Produce cost plans, cost estimates and cost reports.
- Assess tenders and prepare tender evaluation reports.
- Manage the commercial aspects of construction contracts.
- Attend site meetings, client meetings and multidisciplinary design team meetings.
- Prepare interim payment recommendations and certificates.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
Team Leadership & Client Engagement
- Lead and support project teams to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Graduate and Project Quantity Surveyors.
- Build and maintain strong long-term client relationships.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the business.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and the ongoing development of junior team members.
- Provide constructive feedback and contribute to team performance and capability development.
Quality & Professional Development
- Keep up to date with industry developments, legislation and best practice.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to a culture of learning and professional excellence.
About You:
- Level 8 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
- Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g. SCSI and/or RICS).
- Approximately 8–12 years' experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience using Cubit or similar estimating software is desirable.
