Overview

Centre Manager, Market Place Shopping Centre – Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Lead the day-to-day operations of a prestigious shopping centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment and delivering excellent customer experiences. Report to the FM Lead and collaborate with the onsite team alongside security and cleaning personnel to support Market Place’s continued success as Burgess Hill’s central meeting point and community asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the onsite team, managing direct reports and communicating client vision to the wider team; foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Manager to support delivery of strategies that enhance the centre’s performance and value; represent the client’s interests within the local community.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including retailers, local authorities, community groups, local emergency services and customers; contribute to marketing engagement initiatives to enhance the centre’s reputation and community presence.
  • Drive value for money by managing the service charge budget efficiently and transparently; review service providers and internal procedures to maximise service quality and minimise costs; ensure accurate financial reporting and provide updates via agreed reporting systems.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs aligned with the centre’s strategic objectives; regularly review performance and take proactive measures to address shortcomings; develop innovative initiatives to optimise performance and increase footfall.
  • Uphold Onsite Health & Safety responsibilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation; implement risk assessments, incident reporting, and emergency planning in line with JLL’s standards; collaborate with external agencies and contractors to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in SCM, or Revo Place Management (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience in shopping centre or property management within the UK market
  • Strong leadership and team management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Sound financial acumen with experience in managing service charges
  • Proven ability to achieve KPIs and consistently deliver results
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Proficiency in using property management systems and software
