Position
NCSC International Technical Director – London, Manchester, Cheltenham. Closing date: 23:55 on Tuesday 4th August 2026.
Salary: Starting salary of £71,889, including a concessionary payment of £3,144.
Responsibilities
You’ll work alongside technical specialists on core security attributes of the UK’s critical systems and technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying vulnerabilities and creating resilient, long‑term solutions to protect the nation’s digital infrastructure.
- Offering expert advice on specific projects, reporting to senior colleagues, and mentoring others.
- Engaging with senior leaders and specialists, providing strategic insight into complex challenges.
- Frequent international travel, with a full‑time posting overseas within 12 months for approximately two years.
- Supporting the development of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with international partners.
Requirements
- At least five years of practical experience in cyber security.
- Significant experience working with government departments and in international settings.
- Confidence across broad cyber security topics such as:
- Designing secure architectures for IT, operational technology or AI systems.
- Analyzing hardware and device‑level security features.
- Researching software vulnerabilities and secure development practices.
- Applying cryptographic protocols or securing networking and telecommunications technologies.
- Deep technical expertise in one or more areas of cyber security.
- Knowledge of how technological vulnerabilities occur, are discovered and may be exploited.
- Experience applying specialist technical security capabilities to solve customer security problems.
