Band 7 TB Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary

Birmingham & Solihull TB Service is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Nurse to join the team based in the community (Yardley Court). This is a 33‑hour per week post.

Responsibilities

• Case‑manage a caseload of patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis; support and ensure treatment completion to prevent spread and minimise drug‑resistant disease.
• Work closely with the multi‑disciplinary team, UKHSA, neighbouring TB services and national TB services.
• Provide community screening to contacts and manage TB incidents and outbreaks across Birmingham & Solihull.
• Serve as a team leader when required, demonstrating professional leadership and management skills.
• Maintain vehicle access for community visits; driving is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Adult/Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
• Post‑registration qualification in TB, supplemented by specialist experience and short courses.
• Recognised mentorship course.
• Non‑medical prescriber or willingness to work towards it (where applicable).

Experience

• Advanced health assessment module and non‑medical prescribing (or working towards).
• Evidence of revalidation as required by the NMC.
• Significant post‑registration experience at Band 6 or above as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within a practice‑related field.
• Professional leadership and management experience.
• Evidence of achievements, career development and ongoing professional development.
• Specialist knowledge of TB underpinned by theory and CPD.
• Experience in developing educational programmes and teaching, assessment, and supervision in a community setting.
• Experience in service development and working in a multi‑disciplinary and cross‑agency environment.
• Expert nursing knowledge, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of specialist care.
• Knowledge of current NHS policy and safeguarding principles.
• Corporate and clinical governance competence.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay scheme: Agenda for Change, Band 7
• Salary: £49,387.00 to £56,515.00 per year.
