About the role

Senior civil engineer (design engineer) within the Water Utilities Division of Mott MacDonald, focused on UK and Ireland water and wastewater projects. Working across a range of design phases from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Involve in design projects covering water treatment, water distribution, wastewater drainage and recycling, and desalination.
  • Work with clients across multiple UK and Ireland water companies.
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary design teams in project delivery.
  • Prepare design submissions to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Undertake studies, concept, preliminary and detailed design work.
  • Interface and liaise with clients and other stakeholders.

Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Civil Engineering degree or a relevant engineering degree.
  • Chartered or near‑chartered status (ICE or equivalent).
  • Experience in water and/or wastewater engineering design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental issues.
  • Proactive approach, adaptable to changing scenarios.

Desirable:

  • Strong digital capability (e.g., Civil 3D, GIS, pipeline hydraulics software).
  • Experience contributing to low‑carbon solution development.
