Requirements

• Hands‑on experience in Java application design, software development, and automated testing using Java 11 or higher
• Intermediate knowledge of basic infrastructure technologies and components
• Familiarity with application containers based on Spring, Vert.x, or equivalent
• Familiarity with cloud services, including DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools
• Experience with event‑driven and microservices architecture for high‑availability, distributed systems
• Experience using Spring Framework, JUnit, GitHub, microservices, Splunk, and APIs
• Experience with test‑driven development and unit testing frameworks
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing software applications using Java
• Writing, testing, and maintaining clean, efficient code
• Building backend services, APIs, and microservices
• Integrating applications with databases and external systems
• Troubleshooting bugs and optimizing application performance
• Participating in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
• Collaborating with business analysts, QA teams, architects, and other developers

We are a leading IT consultancy hiring a Java 11 Engineer on a contract basis for a leading Financial Services client. This role requires onsite work at our clients office in West Sussex three times per week, so applicants must be able to commit to that arrangement.
