Senior Reliability Maintenance Engineering Technician, RME

In every shift, you’ll be leading a team to ensure everyone has the equipment they need and that it’s running properly. You will monitor processes to ensure regulations and policies are followed, carry out preventive maintenance to increase equipment uptime, and use tools such as SCADA to guarantee performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrate best practice on using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure correct processes are followed.
  • Track equipment performance through visual checks, condition‑based monitoring, and preventive maintenance tasks; schedule additional servicing when required.
  • Supervise technicians on shift and support their development; act as first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
  • Solve issues in equipment to reduce downtime for operations and keep packaging processes efficient.
  • Support continuous improvement of systems and standardise processes across the EU network.

This role is located at an operational site and will involve shift patterns that may include weekends and nights. Developing experience in this area may position you for more senior roles.

Basic Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, or completed a 4‑year UK certified apprenticeship.
  • SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, or completed a 4‑year UK certified apprenticeship.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule/shifts, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Experience using CMMS to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks.
  • Full Engineering indented apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject.
  • Relevant experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Relevant experience working in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Relevant experience in automation or material handling equipment environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or technical lead.
  • Experience working in a multi‑contractor and multi‑site environment.
  • Understanding of PLC‑based control systems and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks.
  • A degree preferably in a technical discipline, operations, or business administration.
