Associate Professor/Professor in Digital Engineering (Robotics & Applied AI) – School of Engineering

Location: Medway Campus, University of Greenwich.

Salary: £57,422 to £82,935 per annum.

Contract Type: Permanent.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead the development of Digital Engineering research, innovation and research‑informed education within the School.
• Strategically advance programmes in Applied AI for Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Lead and inspire high‑performing research teams, secure major external research and innovation funding, and supervise doctoral and postgraduate researchers.
• Contribute to the University’s ambitions in the REF, TEF and KEF, ensuring programme alignment with PSRB requirements and accreditation standards (e.g., IET).
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry and international collaborators, supporting the commercialisation of research outputs.
• Provide academic leadership through potential senior roles such as Deputy Head of School, Associate Head of School or Director of Research.
• Promote a positive learning environment, enhancing student satisfaction and experience.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent professional experience in Digital Engineering, Robotics, Automation or Applied AI.
• Strong, internationally recognised research record with a track record of leading research groups and securing external funding.
• Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development and evidence of teaching excellence.
• Proven success in securing research grants and a clear understanding of PSRB expectations; relevant PSRB membership is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, organisational and managerial skills.
