Hackney Council is looking for a motivated and detail‑focused Technical Licensing Officer to join the Private Sector Housing Licensing Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy regulatory environment supporting property licensing, improving housing standards, and helping deliver better outcomes for residents.
You Will
- Process property licensing applications and carry out regulatory checks
- Provide advice and support to landlords, agents, tenants and residents
- Manage enquiries through duty services and shared inboxes
- Maintain accurate records, databases and statutory registers
- Support compliance, enforcement and licensing decision‑making
- Contribute to service improvements and digital processes
As you progress to SO1 level, you will take on more complex casework, technical decision‑making, quality assurance and mentoring responsibilities.

- Experience in housing, licensing, compliance, regulation or similar environments
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills
- Experience managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
