Product Developer
The Product Developer will lead the development of successful and profitable programs for key products to ensure continued growth of current portfolios as well as the establishment of new launches. The role requires deep market expertise, research into competitive landscapes, and an understanding of retailer assortments that meet changing consumer and retailer needs.
Hybrid, Battersea, London – 3 days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist key workstreams in the new product development lifecycle from brainstorm phase through mass production.
- Create product definitions, consumer‑relevant design targets, and performance KPIs, including critical messaging claims.
- Conduct and analyse market research to identify consumer needs, market gaps, and competitive landscape.
- Understand regional and local compliance risks/issues and advocate product nuances to cross‑functional teams.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teammates to convey the strategic vision and goals for the product portfolio.
- Manage product feedback with cross‑functional teams to provide real‑time inputs at every stage of development from pre‑builds to mass production.
- Partner with PMO, Engineering, and global product development to ensure issue tracker is drained from build to build.
- Develop and actively participate in JIRA ticket development and closing out issues.
- Develop and execute hands‑on and virtual validation plans at each build, using proven SN methodologies for all touchpoints and support markets.
- Manage creation and execution of product support material such as in‑box collateral, FAQs, How‑To videos, and troubleshooting scripts.
- Maintain data integrity throughout the product development cycle for tools like PARF, PIS, and Salsify.
- Help team meet cost targets by understanding levers needed to impact margin.
- Provide clear cost direction to Supply Chain and Engineering on potential product trade‑offs to meet cost and margin targets.
- Support leadership in executing budget through understanding overall category cost and margin targets.
- Efficiently document program details and keep an organized system for smooth transition 90 days post‑mass production to COE team.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field, preferably at a consumer goods company.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering, or a combination of the above.
- Interest and ability to work, learn, and grow in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, high‑impact environment.
- Consumer‑first perspective when introducing new products/processes or improving current products.
- Mindset geared toward building relationships across multi‑functional teams with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Highly effective communication skills – both written and in‑person, including presentations to all levels of management.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to mentor junior and newly onboarded associates.
- Ability to embrace transparency and shifting priorities while learning from each decision and focusing on the path forward.
- Willingness to travel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Resourceful, well‑organized, highly dependable, efficient, and detail oriented.
- Team player and capable of working independently.
