Job Introduction
The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is seeking to appoint a Project Manager to join the Capital Delivery Team. Your key responsibilities in this role will be to support the delivery of the Mayor’s priorities by sponsoring and managing transport and infrastructure projects that improve connectivity, encourage sustainable travel and help create healthier, more livable communities across the West of England.
We are looking for a collaborative and delivery-focused project professional who is passionate about making a tangible difference through infrastructure investment. You will bring strong project management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to build productive relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Initially, the role will support the delivery of the Active Travel Programme, a portfolio of projects valued at approximately £70 million. The Capital Delivery Team sponsors and manages over £1 billion of transport infrastructure investment across the region.
Responsibilities
- Support the successful delivery of transport and infrastructure projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are developed and delivered in accordance with approved business cases, funding requirements, programme objectives and governance arrangements.
- Complete effective monitoring, reporting and assurance activities to support informed decision‑making and accountability.
- Provide leadership, challenge and support to project teams and partners to maximise benefits, manage risk and achieve value for money.
- Build strong relationships with local authority partners and stakeholders to support successful project outcomes across the region.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience sponsoring or managing complex transport, infrastructure or regeneration projects.
- Ability to build credibility and influence with senior leaders, delivery partners and external stakeholders.
- Experience working within governance and assurance environments involving public sector funding.
- Confidence presenting complex information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Capability to balance competing priorities whilst maintaining a focus on outcomes, value for money and continuous improvement.
- Collaborative working style while providing appropriate challenge and maintaining accountability for delivery.

- Salary: £47,181 – £51,356 (full‑time equivalent).
