The Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Project Manager to join our growing Project & Bid Management team.
Reporting to the Project & Bid Manager, you will play a key role in planning, managing and delivering projects that support the Research, Attract, Develop and Retain pillars of our 2025–2030 Skills Strategy. You will be responsible for managing projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget and achieves the intended outcomes and impact.
The role will involve working closely with colleagues, members, suppliers, contractors and external partners to ensure successful project delivery and a high‑quality customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of projects from inception through to completion.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and milestones, taking account of dependencies, risks and resource availability.
- Manage project scope, budgets, risks, quality and resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Operate projects within agreed governance frameworks, ensuring effective reporting and accountability.
- Monitor and manage project risks, implementing appropriate mitigation plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including members, suppliers and senior leaders.
- Ensure strong contract management and supplier performance throughout project delivery.
- Develop and maintain business cases to support project approval and continuation.
- Manage project reviews and lessons learned activities to support continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development of project management tools, processes and best practice across the organisation.
- Utilise CRM systems, including Microsoft Dynamics, to manage stakeholder information and relationships.
About You
You will be an organised and delivery-focused Project Manager with experience of managing multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
You will bring:
- Proven experience managing internal and client‑facing projects.
- Experience successfully planning, delivering and reporting on projects.
- Experience managing project budgets, resources and timelines.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage risk, governance and project controls effectively.
- Experience working within skills, education, energy and utilities, or a membership organisation.
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), equivalent qualification, or willingness to achieve this within your first five months of employment.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT.
- Knowledge of the energy and utilities sector.
