Team
The role sits in the Ops Data & Intelligence team, the centre of excellence for data delivery, analytics and data science capabilities in Operations. It leads a 5‑person data science team to leverage advanced analytics for operational performance, including on‑time performance, cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Job Purpose
Responsibilities include:
- Leadership & Team Management – Mentor and develop the data science team, foster a high‑performance culture and ensure best practices in modelling, experimentation and deployment.
- Data Science & Advanced Analytics – Design and implement predictive and prescriptive models for airline operations, applying machine learning, optimisation and statistical analysis to large, complex data sets.
- Translation of Business Problems – Convert business challenges into analytical frameworks and actionable solutions to improve decision‑making.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Manage project prioritisation, resource allocation and communication with internal stakeholders.
- Project Lifecycle Ownership – Lead the entire data‑science project lifecycle using advanced tools and a deep understanding of easyJet’s business nuances.
- Oversight of data‑science application to the operations technology strategy and product ways of working to drive better decision‑making and outcomes.
Requirements
Key Skills Required
- Significant experience as a Data Scientist.
- Strong team leadership skills: mentoring, cross‑functional collaboration, driving high‑impact projects and aligning with business objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of the Data Science Toolbox – mathematics, statistics, programming, data ingestion, munging, visualisation, machine learning, optimisation, simulation, reinforcement learning, and big‑data technologies.
- Experience leading successful data‑science projects in an operational setting (preferred).
- Understanding of key user personas, customers and stakeholders and their pain points.
- Excellent prioritisation and decision‑making skills aligned with business priorities and resources.
- Active participation in the analytics community, sharing knowledge with peers.
- Support for team and operations to stay current with data trends.
