Your new company A leading M&E contractor based in Newtownabbey is seeking a Mechanical Contracts Manager to join the team on a major data centre project in Derry/Londonderry. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the successful delivery of a high-profile project, working closely with clients, project teams and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
Your new role Reporting to the Operations Manager/Operations Director, you will be responsible for all aspects of the project, ensuring effective client relationship management and the smooth operational and commercial progression of the contract from award through to handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking responsibility for all health, safety and welfare matters on site.
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of the project from contract award through to commissioning, handover and client aftercare.
- Reviewing and auditing design information to ensure compliance with the employer’s requirements and all relevant statutory regulations.
- Overseeing the commissioning process to ensure all services are commissioned in line with project requirements and industry guidelines.
- Ensuring accurate records are maintained covering quality control, testing, water treatment, commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Working closely with the Quantity Surveyor to monitor commercial and contractual matters and ensure expenditure remains within budget.
- Preparing regular project progress reports.
- Attending project and site meetings as required.
- Overseeing the preparation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Providing technical support and expertise to the project team.
- Maintaining strong client relationships and working collaboratively with project partners.
- Managing variation control alongside the Quantity Surveyor and main contractor.
- Ensuring full commissioning records, test certificates and inspection data are maintained throughout the project.
- Managing the successful handover of the project to the client.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Minimum HND or a mechanical trade qualification
- A minimum of five years’ experience in mechanical contracts or project management.
- Knowledge of construction, installation and commissioning sequences and practices.
- Knowledge of process operation, statutory compliance and reporting processes.
- Proficient knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation.
- Results driven with the ability to deliver projects successfully.
- High level of communication, organisational, management and motivational skills.
- Proactive and committed approach to project delivery.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to delegate effectively.
- Able to lead by example and build trust within project teams.
- Adaptable to changing project requirements.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
