Your new company A leading M&E contractor based in Newtownabbey is seeking an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to join the team on the delivery of a major data centre project in Derry/Londonderry. This is an exciting opportunity to take a key leadership role on a high-profile, technically complex project, working alongside an experienced project delivery team within a well-established and growing business.
Your new role As Electrical Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of the electrical package from pre-construction through to commissioning, handover and client aftercare.
Reporting to the Operations Manager/Operations Director, you will lead all aspects of project delivery, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety, quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage all aspects of the project from contract award through to commissioning, handover and client aftercare.
- Take responsibility for health, safety and welfare on site.
- Ensure all design information is reviewed and audited to ensure compliance with the employer’s requirements and statutory regulations.
- Oversee the commissioning process and ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Maintain comprehensive records relating to quality control, testing, commissioning and maintenance.
- Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor to monitor commercial and contractual matters, ensuring projects remain within budget.
- Prepare regular project progress reports.
- Attend client, contractor and project meetings as required.
- Oversee the preparation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the project team.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and project partners.
- Manage variation control in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor and main contractor.
- Ensure a successful project handover and aftercare process.
What you’ll need to succeed
- HND, electrical trade qualification, or equivalent in a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in an Electrical Contracts Manager, Project Manager or similar role within the M&E sector.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale electrical projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical building services installation, commissioning and handover processes.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, project delivery and commissioning procedures.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing contractual obligations and project budgets.
- Good understanding of statutory compliance requirements and reporting procedures.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Well organised, proactive and results-driven.
- Ability to lead project teams, delegate effectively and build strong working relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
