Our client has a superb vacancy for an Occupational Therapist Permanent in all above locations. To work with the senior management team, referrers, commissioners, suppliers, and operational teams to successfully deliver a person‑centred Community Equipment Service that supports individuals accessing the right equipment to support their needs at the right time.

Providing comprehensive, specialist support and advice to referrers into the service and the managers and colleagues within the service in order to maximise the recycling of special equipment, including review and oversight of Special orders. You will support, develop and implement best practice initiatives to deliver a high‑quality, cost effective, and efficient equipment loan service.

Job Role

  • To advise, support and direct CES prescribers on appropriate use of equipment, catalogue range, clinical reasoning, clinical governance, service provision, and safeguard systems and processes.
  • To review special equipment orders according to local processes and ensure best use of recycled specials (RSPs) to maximise resources and best value achieved.
  • To provide comprehensive specialist support and advice to referrers and colleagues within the service to further develop and continue to deliver a high‑quality equipment loan service and maximise the recycling of special equipment.
  • Utilise supervision, training opportunities and reflective practice to ensure own professional development and contribute to the ongoing development and best practice within the service.
  • Support the development, review, updating and promotion of clinical governance and prescription criteria, policies, processes and documents, interpreting national policies and guidelines relevant to the speciality.
  • Support the equipment review group(s) to provide ongoing review and assessment of the catalogue to ensure it meets the needs of service users, provides value for money and uses up‑to‑date technology, including specialist support in identifying CTEs (close technical equivalents).
  • Work with operational and procurement colleagues to update, improve and ensure best information on TCES catalogues and templates.
  • Arrange and hold familiarisation (training) and demonstration days for prescribers to ensure they are aware of standard catalogue equipment and any new equipment added to the catalogue, and support competencies and compliance to advise on and install equipment.
  • Keep updated with developments and innovations in equipment, methods of assessment, treatment philosophies, methods of intervention and evidence‑based practice.
  • Contribute to the financial delivery of the service ensuring it is cost effective and compile reports including the demand and savings produced by the RSP work.
  • Support market tests for catalogue and special items, jointly work with services to rate and choose the best product for the catalogue.
  • Identify and initiate evidence‑based audit and projects.
  • Undertake projects to reduce clinical risk, improve efficiency and produce savings, which could include audits, data analysis, sharing specials, expansion of trusted assessor programmes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Post‑qualification experience at a senior level.
  • Experience of developing, delivering or facilitating training sessions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant Health and Social Care legislation, policy and practice, clinical governance and prescription criteria.
  • Expert knowledge of moving and handling techniques, equipment and risk assessments.
  • Good working knowledge and usage of all MS Office packages and ability to learn new systems.
