IntroductionThis Level 3 apprenticeship training programme develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work in a childcare setting with the opportunity to take responsibility for leading childcare provision.
About the Employer
Stepping Stones was founded in 1996 and has been under the same management ever since. Housed in two rooms within the Church of God of Prophecy in Kitto Road, we are able to cater for up to 29 children aged between 6 months and 5 years old.
Our aims and objectives are:
- To provide high quality childcare provision for young children and their families.
- To enable parents to return to education or work, so that they improve their children’s lives and get them out of poverty and depravation.
- To serve the local community, promote racial equality and anti‑discriminatory practice and inclusive provision.
- To ensure that all children have access to an appropriate broad curriculum, are considered as individuals, have their needs met, are given opportunities to become independent, and have access to all areas of the curriculum and provision (equality of opportunity).
- To reflect to the local and wider community and make all children and their families feel comfortable, welcome and included.
What You’ll Do
Under the guidance of teachers, the successful candidate will work with individuals or small groups of children to support the education, personal and social development of pupils and establish positive relationships to assist pupils in completing structured learning activities.
Duties
- Support the implementation of learning activities with individual or small groups.
- Assist the development of varying skills that support pupils’ learning.
- Produce learning resources.
- Assist in pupil supervision.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and developmental needs.
- Report pupil progress to the teacher.
- Work within the school’s policy and procedures.
- Adhere to the relevant apprenticeship standard/framework and complete work in a timely manner.
Training Outcome
Once the Level 3 is completed and the apprentice becomes fully qualified, the next step would be to become a Room Leader and complete the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner qualification.
