Job Purpose
As a Water Network Technician you will support the day to day operation and maintenance of Clean Water Network and assets to ensure United Utilities (UU) Wholesale delivers its operational objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Inspect and maintain a wide range of water network assets (e.g., reservoirs, pumping stations, trunk mains, valves, and pressure systems) to ensure operational performance.
- Identify asset optimisation opportunities and carry out network improvements, investigations, rezoning, and pressure management activities.
- Manage asset condition, verification, and maintenance tasks, including valve checks, reservoir operations (refill/drop tests), flushing, and pump/generator operation.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, including PPE, confined space work, risk assessments, audits, and contractor sign‑off.
- Support network reliability by handling incidents, investigating pressures/flows, detecting illegal connections, restoring supply, and installing monitoring equipment (e.g., loggers).
What We Are Looking For
- GCSE grade C or above, City and Guilds, or ability to demonstrate technical and customer skills
- Demonstrable water network technical experience, including leakage detection and repair
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong customer service focus and ability to resolve customer issues
- Ability to work alone as well as effectively as part of a team
- A good level of competency in the use of relevant IT packages
- Previous experience of working in an operational environment
- Previous experience of working within water networks
