An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trade Mark Paralegal to join the firm’s established Trade Marks team. Supporting senior fee earners and Partners, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of trade mark portfolios, providing comprehensive Paralegal support across the full trade mark lifecycle. This is a varied, fast-paced position offering exposure to high-profile international clients and complex portfolio management work within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all stages of UK, EU, International and foreign national trade mark and design applications
  • Prepare, file and report on trade mark applications across multiple jurisdictions
  • Respond to client queries regarding trade mark portfolios and provide ongoing portfolio support
  • Assist with the management of large international trade mark portfolios and recordal projects
  • Prepare and file assignments, renewals, licences, ownership changes and other recordals
  • Draft and file opposition notices, extensions of time and other opposition-related formalities
  • Assist with responses to official objections and provisional refusals
  • Gather exhibits and supporting documentation for witness statements and contentious matters
  • Monitor critical deadlines, manage diaries and ensure all key dates are accurately recorded and actioned
  • Prepare client correspondence, reports and formal communications
  • Handle billing, prepare cost estimates and liaise with finance teams regarding client accounts
  • Prioritise urgent matters and provide proactive support to fee earners
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, colleagues and external contacts

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Trade Mark Paralegal within a private practice intellectual property firm
  • Experience supporting Partners and fee earners on a broad range of trade mark matters
  • Completion of the CITMA Paralegal Course
  • Strong working knowledge of UKIPO, EUIPO, WIPO and international trade mark procedures
  • Experience managing trade mark portfolios and trade mark formalities
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Exceptionally attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to work independently using initiative
  • Strong client service skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
  • A collaborative team player with a positive and professional approach
