Job Description:

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and practical Ranger to join our Parks and Countryside Team across Huntingdonshire’s green spaces, including country parks, nature reserves and open spaces. The role involves carrying out habitat management, leading volunteers, engaging with visitors and delivering projects that enhance nature and biodiversity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver day‑to‑day management of parks, nature reserves and open spaces.
  • Implement site management plans and undertake practical habitat management.
  • Maintain site infrastructure and ensure sites remain safe, attractive and welcoming.
  • Work closely with volunteers, community groups, schools and partner organisations.
  • Lead practical work parties, support events and educational activities.
  • Develop positive relationships with visitors and stakeholders.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and solving challenges.

Qualifications

  • Experience in practical conservation and countryside management.
  • Good understanding of habitat management, wildlife conservation and health & safety practices.
  • Experience using and maintaining a range of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to motivate others and provide excellent customer service.
  • Proactive, adaptable and enthusiastic, able to work outdoors in all seasons.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Relevant countryside management qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
  • Operational qualifications such as chainsaw and brushcutter certificates (advantageous).
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
  • Conditional upon having the right to work in the UK.
  • Huntingdonshire District Council is unable to offer a Certificate of Sponsorship.
