SEMH Teaching Assistant
Kirkham, Lancashire Specialist SEMH College Centre Part-time – Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday Term-time Agency Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs while benefiting from a consistent part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
- Support learners to re-engage with education, routines, and emotional regulation
- Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activities
- Apply positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
- Support students both academically and emotionally
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
- Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs(schools, colleges, PRUs, care, youth work, or similar settings)
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
- TA qualification desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
