We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join our IT team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of technologies while working towards an accredited IT qualification.

About the Role

As an IT Apprentice, you will support the day‑to‑day operation of the IT department while developing your technical knowledge and practical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑line IT support to colleagues both onsite and remotely
  • Diagnose technical issues and identify appropriate solutions
  • Support end users and ensure issues are resolved effectively
  • Back up, restore and transfer user data
  • Configure and deploy laptops, desktops and other IT equipment
  • Maintain hardware including laptops, desktops, printers and peripherals
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications and Windows operating systems
  • Assist with software installations, system updates and patch management
  • Support hardware replacement activities
  • Assist with basic networking tasks and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate IT documentation and records

What You’ll Learn

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems
  • Microsoft 365 administration and support
  • Active Directory and user account management
  • Networking fundamentals including switches, firewalls and connectivity
  • Virtual machines and server environments
  • IT service management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Cyber security awareness and best practices
  • IT processes, procedures and documentation
  • Opportunities to work towards a recognised IT qualification

Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly
  • Strong customer service and user support skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage large volumes of information accurately
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • A positive and proactive approach to problem solving
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn and continuously develop new skills
  • Commitment to following processes, policies and procedures
  • An understanding of database management, reporting systems, software installation and network support would be advantageous

  • Cyber security principles
  • Programming or scripting languages

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including English and Maths
  • A‑Level (or equivalent qualification) in IT or a related subject

Desirable

  • Full UK Driving Licence
