About the role:

This specialist SEMH school near Lincoln supports secondary‑aged students through a highly nurturing, relationship‑based approach. The curriculum blends core subjects with practical, creative and independent life‑skills learning. The role begins immediately and potentially continues into the next academic year, working five days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver adapted, trauma‑informed practical and creative lessons by breaking tasks into manageable steps, modelling skills clearly, and using visual routines to support understanding.
• Encourage independence and resilience through hands‑on, real‑world learning, celebrating progress and helping students re‑engage calmly after challenges.
• Maintain a structured, predictable classroom environment that reduces anxiety, supports regulation, and enables students with SEMH needs to access learning confidently.

Pre‑requisites:

• Experience teaching, tutoring, or leading structured practical learning for young people, ideally within SEMH, alternative provision, PRUs, or creative/vocational settings.
• Strong understanding of SEMH needs, trauma‑informed practice, and how relational/behavioural challenges impact engagement and learning.
• Relevant qualifications such as QTS or PGCE, or relevant experience in teaching Art, DT and vocational lessons within a setting that supports SEMH or mental health needs.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and attuned, using therapeutic communication and consistent boundaries to support emotional regulation.
