Telephonist – Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy
NHS Fife has an exciting opportunity to join our Switchboard team at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
Responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is organised and has a positive approach to work, is ready for a challenge and enjoys working as part of a team. This post will require shift work; you must work all shifts as part of a 24‑hour, 7‑day week.
The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Your duties will mainly involve handling calls to the Switchboard from internal and external callers, responding to pager requests, taking emergency calls, monitoring alarms and providing advice and support on telephony services to NHS employees and the public.
Full training will be provided, and knowledge of NHS Fife will be an advantage. The post is based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
Once fully trained, you will be expected to receive additional training in supporting the Electronic Health Record as part of the 24/7 integrated service.
Qualifications
- Standard Grade (or equivalent) with passes in English and Arithmetic.
- Good keyboard/typing skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational and listening skills, flexible approach to working.
- Adequate English language competency and communication skills to perform the role safely and effectively.
