General Teaching Assistant (KS1/SEN) – Heysham Primary School
Veritas Education are seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Heysham on a full-time basis from September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who enjoys supporting children across the primary age range, with a particular focus on pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am – 3:15pm
- Full-time
- September start
The Role
The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers to support learning and development across the school, with a particular emphasis on supporting pupils with additional needs. The school would particularly welcome applicants with experience working within Key Stage 1 and supporting children with a range of SEN needs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
- Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions.
- Assisting pupils with SEND to access learning activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement.
- Supporting children’s social, emotional and academic development.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and parents where required.
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
- Experience supporting children with SEN.
- KS1 experience would be highly desirable.
- A patient, adaptable and caring approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
