HCL is looking for an experienced and proactive Recruitment & Head Office Training Manager to join our People & Culture team on a 12‑month maternity cover contract.

This unique opportunity combines responsibility for high‑volume recruitment across our network of approximately 475 school locations with the coordination of Learning & Development activities for Head Office teams. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will play a key role in attracting, developing and retaining talent across the organisation.

You will lead the end‑to‑end recruitment process across our East and West regions, managing a team of two Recruitment Coordinators while working closely with school leaders, managers and external partners to reduce vacancy levels and secure high‑quality hires. Alongside recruitment, you will coordinate Head Office training programmes, support workforce development initiatives, manage training providers, and help ensure employees have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in high‑volume or multi‑site recruitment, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to use data and insight to drive improvements. Experience within Learning & Development, training coordination, education, care, public sector or regulated environments would be advantageous, as would a CIPD qualification.

  • Lead and manage end‑to‑end recruitment across multiple locations.
  • Manage and develop two Recruitment Coordinators.
  • Build effective relationships with hiring managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop attraction and sourcing strategies in a competitive recruitment market.

  • Ensure compliance with safer recruitment and pre‑employment checks.
  • Coordinate and oversee Head Office training and development activities.
  • Manage relationships with external training providers and recruitment partners.
  • Produce reports and insights to support workforce planning and continuous improvement.

Why Join HCL?

  • Competitive salary and pension scheme.
  • Life Assurance and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • A values‑led organisation committed to supporting local communities.
  • A diverse role offering real autonomy and the opportunity to make a measurable impact.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as travel across our regions will be required.
