Rotational Pharmacist – Band 6 (progression to band 7)

Are you looking for a rewarding career in hospital pharmacy as a progressive Band 6 to Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist?
We are looking for Band 6 Rotational Pharmacists to join the team and help shape the pharmacy service whilst developing into Band 7 Clinical Pharmacists. Developmental support is available from the established Pharmacy Clinical and Education Teams.
All training, education and diploma fees are fully covered by the trust.
University Hospital Dorset was created merging two hospitals; the Bournemouth site is developing into the major emergency care hospital and Poole site into the major planned care hospital.
The patient is at the centre of all that we do and our strategy is to provide a pharmacy service that has medicines optimisation at its heart. EPMA (Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration) has been implemented across the whole trust.

This role requires GPhC Registration.

Rotations will be supported by a training package alongside support from specialist pharmacists and accredited pharmacy technicians. You will complete the Newly Qualified Pharmacist training programme, undertake the Clinical Pharmacy Diploma and have the opportunity to progress with the Independent Prescribing qualification as a newly qualified pharmacist prescriber or to undertake the Independent Prescribing Qualification training.
The post holder will be required to have GPhC registration, be ready to promote change, have a team focus on quality improvement, show initiative for development of their own and the team’s clinical pharmacy skills to deliver a high quality and patient focused pharmacy service.

- Registered (or eligible to be) as a Pharmacist in the UK with the GPhC
Eligibility for relocation costs can be discussed should you live more than 40 miles from the Trust and are already a resident in the UK.

- MPharm or equivalent or pending
- Registered (or eligible to be) as a Pharmacist in the UK with the GPhC
Experience
- Delivering responsibilities and objectives to time in previous posts
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Previous hospital experience post qualification or at pre-registration trainee pharmacist level
Technical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work methodically and accurately under pressure
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to meet deadlines
- Evidence of involvement in clinical audit
- Ability to analyse problems and to develop practical and workable solutions to address them
Other
- Good oral and written communication skills
- A constructive member of the team, able to maintain good working relationships with colleagues
- Evidence of ability to work on own initiative and as part of the team
- Ability to assist in training other staff
Knowledge
- Knowledge of and ability to apply all aspects of regulatory legislation and guidelines
- Good clinical knowledge of current therapeutics and pharmacy practice
- Demonstrated awareness of patient safety issues
- Evidence of delivering lectures, workshops and formal presentations
- Clear understanding of the boundaries around delegated authority, responsibility and accountability
