Are you a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) with an interest in respiratory care? If so, join our Primary Care Respiratory Hubs. This cluster project will provide respiratory diagnostic testing across Anglese/Arfon and Dwyfor, improving access to high‑quality care and supporting earlier diagnosis and management for patients closer to home.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated HCSW to join our Primary Care Respiratory Hub Team. This nurse‑led service offers the opportunity to develop specialist respiratory skills, work autonomously, and contribute to high‑quality care within a supportive primary care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Registered Nurse to run respiratory clinics across three sites within the Mon/Arfon & Dwyfor clusters.
- Deliver high‑quality respiratory diagnostic testing and patient‑centred care.
- Collaborate within a small team consisting of a Registered Nurse and a Healthcare Support Worker.
- Report directly to the Registered Nurse and be supported by the Lead Nurse for Primary Care.
- Oversee the daily operational running of respiratory clinics.
- Ensure clinics are fully booked and contain all relevant patient information required for testing.
- Maintain equipment calibration and clean it before and after each clinic.
- Confirm patient identity and suitability for testing on arrival.
- Perform diagnostic testing in line with national and local standards.
- Upload and record results promptly onto EMIS Community following assessment.
- Maintain clinical competency and engage in ongoing training and development.
- Ensure all equipment maintenance and servicing is up to date and appropriately recorded.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Literacy and numeracy skills.
- NVQ Level 3 or working towards this or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working in a general practice or other healthcare environment.
- Experience working under indirect supervision.
- Demonstrated understanding of the role of a health care assistant.
- Standard keyboard skills.
- Ability to make judgements in complex situations such as new patient health checks or urinalysis.
- Understanding of issues regarding accountability and delegation.
- Ability to communicate effectively via face‑to‑face, telephone or group discussion.
- Good interpersonal skills and proven customer care skills.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Desirable Criteria
- HCA course specific to general practice.
- Up‑to‑date basic life support training.
- ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence).
