The Role

Vital Synergy is looking for a skilled and motivated Pipe Fitter/Welder to join our growing delivery team. This is more than a traditional site-based role; it is an opportunity to work on a wide range of mechanical engineering projects across healthcare, education, industrial, and public sector environments. You will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of pipework systems, plant room equipment, valves, and bespoke pipe assemblies, ensuring all work is delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship. Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and other trades, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects while representing Vital Synergy’s commitment to excellence on every site.

What You Will Do
Role Overview
This is a full‑time, permanent field‑based role. As a Pipe Fitter/Welder, you will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, welding, testing, and commissioning of mechanical pipework systems across a range of commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and public sector projects. You will work from technical and CAD drawings to deliver high‑quality pipework installations, plant room assemblies, and associated equipment, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will be a key member of the delivery team, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients, and other trades to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, fabricate, and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and other pipework systems in accordance with project specifications and drawings
- Read and interpret technical and CAD drawings to accurately manufacture and install pipework systems
- Fabricate and install valves, plant room pipework, bespoke manifolds, brackets, and mechanical assemblies
- Carry out TIG, MIG, MMA, and other welding processes as required to project specifications
- Perform pressure testing, system flushing, commissioning support, and fault rectification activities
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with site procedures, quality standards, and Health & Safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
- Coordinate with project teams, site management, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure efficient delivery of works
- Identify and resolve installation issues whilst maintaining programme requirements and quality standards
- Complete relevant site documentation, inspection records, and quality checks as required
- Represent Vital Synergy professionally on client sites and maintain excellent working relationships with customers and stakeholders
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pipe Fitter/Welder within commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, or public sector environments
- Strong understanding of pipe fabrication, installation techniques, and welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical and CAD drawings
- Experience fabricating and installing plant room pipework, valves, manifolds, and associated mechanical systems
- Knowledge of TIG, MIG, MMA, and other relevant welding techniques
- CSCS Card (essential)
- Relevant Pipefitting and Welding qualifications, such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent (desirable)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Full UK Driving License
- Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain, desirable for work within schools and healthcare environments
- Willingness to work away from home when project requirements dictate
