Looking for a hands‑on woodworking role with long weekends every week? If you have experience operating woodworking machinery and want an immediate start with the opportunity to secure a permanent position, we’d like to hear from you.
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Wood Cutting Machinist to join a well‑established furniture manufacturer based in Ilkeston.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for operating band saws and cross‑cut saws to cut timber accurately for the manufacture of quality sofa frames. You’ll work closely with the production team to ensure materials are prepared to specification while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
Duration: This is an ongoing position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.Contract Type: TemporaryHourly Rate: £14.00 per hour.28 days’ holiday per year (pro rata).Immediate start available.Ongoing work with the opportunity for a permanent contract.We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 6:00am – 4:00pm. Enjoy a 3‑day weekend every week.

Experience & Qualifications
To be considered, you’ll need:
- At least 2 years’ experience operating band saws and cross‑cut saws.
- Previous experience within sofa frame manufacturing or a similar woodworking environment.
- The ability to interpret production specifications accurately.
- A strong eye for detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- A dependable attitude and the ability to work well within a team.
