Overview
The role is for a Social Worker with AMHP status (Band 7) in East AOT, working in hospital inpatients and the community, and providing social supervision to restricted community patients under the Ministry of Justice. You will be part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team delivering Assertive services to Birmingham. The position requires flexible working across sites and participation in the Birmingham City Council AMHP rota (once a month).
Responsibilities
- Hold a caseload and coordinate care for up to 8 patients, receiving management and clinical supervision.
- Work as a Social Supervisor in line with Ministry of Justice guidelines and with the Clinical Supervisor.
- Support effective risk management of service users.
- Prepare Social Circumstances Reports and attend Tribunals and Managers hearings under the Mental Health Act.
- Provide social care expertise to multi-disciplinary teams to support patient discharge planning.
- Work with individual service users to help them achieve recovery goals.
- Offer support and interventions to families and carers across inpatient and outpatient services.
Qualifications & Experience
- AMHP status and experience in Mental Health Social Work.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and the legal framework for mental health care.
- Experience safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
- Ability to uphold anti-discriminatory practice and maintain professional boundaries.
- Experience with mandatory supervision (behavioural family therapy, safeguarding, team supervision).
