As an apprentice with the Learner Services team at Fix It, you will provide administrative support to the team and help ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations within the college.
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am–4:00 pm, with a 30‑minute lunch break each day. Duration: 1 year 6 months, starting Monday 24 August 2026.
Salary: £14,560 for the first year. The salary is calculated on a pro‑rata basis at £9 per hour for 35 hours a week and 45.10 weeks. It is paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete an apprenticeship and approved qualification in Business Administration.
- Provide administrative support: filing, photocopying, scanning, and maintaining accurate learner records.
- Assist with learner enrolment, preparing paperwork and ensuring documentation is correctly filed.
- Use the college MIS system to manage learner files, prepare reports, log attendance and parent/carer calls.
- Maintain organised and up‑to‑date learner records and filing systems.
- Take notes/minutes during meetings including internal department meetings and meetings with Learners, Parents and Carers.
- Conduct front‑of‑house duties, welcoming visitors and providing a professional first point of contact.
- Handle telephone enquiries, record accurate messages and forward them to the appropriate team member.
- Assist with creating resources and documents for the learner services team.
- Draft correspondence including letters, permission slips and communication to parents/carers.
- Help manage staff calendars, schedule meetings, home visits and college events.
- Update the college social media accounts where required.
- Participate in required training and work effectively as part of a team.
Training
Apprenticeships include specialist training and workplace learning. You will study to gain a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration with Wigan & Leigh College, supported by the Fix It team.
Qualifications
GCSE in Maths (grade 4) required. Share any additional relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other Requirements
