Catering Assistant – Liverpool Women’s Hospital

Please note this is a full‑time position. Working hours are 08:30am – 16:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Regeneration of chilled/frozen food and preparation of sauces.
  • Preparation of patient meal trays.
  • Plating and serving of cold and hot food items, including condiments, directly to patients.
  • Probing and recording food and equipment temperatures.
  • Beverage service to patients, including washing and refilling water jugs and beakers.
  • Taking patient orders and communicating requirements to the catering department.
  • Clearing meal trays, crockery and cutlery for all food areas.
  • Collecting, segregating and disposing of catering waste materials.
  • Cleaning duties within the kitchen and associated areas, in line with departmental cleaning schedules (equipment, work surfaces, crockery and cutlery).
  • Ordering and receiving goods from the main catering unit, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Completion of procedural paperwork such as temperature checks and monitoring.
  • Participating in training as required and undertaking further training to enhance personal effectiveness and service standards.
  • Co-operating with colleagues as part of the team and performing additional duties as directed by the catering supervisor.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Previous catering experience.
  • Previous industrial catering experience.
  • Previous use of cleaning machinery, dishwashing or panwashing machinery.

Skills

  • Data inputting.

Knowledge

  • Numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Understanding of good food hygiene.
  • Barista training.
  • Knowledge of cash till systems.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
  • Food/Hygiene certificate.

Other
