SEND Teaching Assistant

SEND Teaching Assistant – Stockport (Manchester) (SK8).

Pay: GBP500‑550 per week (depending on experience). Start Date: 01/09/2026. Contract: Long‑Term, Temp to Perm.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions.
• Provide personal care to pupils.
• Assist in managing challenging and sometimes high‑risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies.
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with other staff members, SEN professionals and external agencies to support development.

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience with SEN needs such as severe autism, complex learning needs and sensory impairments.
• Experience providing personal care.
• Calm, patient, resilient, able to remain composed in challenging situations.
• Confidence in setting boundaries and following behaviour management plans consistently.
• Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
• Ideal backgrounds: Psychology, Speech and Language graduates, teaching assistants, care and support workers.

Eligibility

• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to process a new application.
• Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
