Bank Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients / Pre‑Assessment

Location: Plymouth Hospital – Outpatients / Pre‑Assessment team.

Contract type: Bank (part‑time, ad‑hoc) with hourly rate up to £13 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist colleagues in Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Cardiology, GP Services, Ophthalmics and Dermatology.
• Support day‑to‑day clinic operations and manage changing priorities.
• Assist consultants and nurses with procedures such as dressings and wound care.
• Carry out pre‑assessment tasks to optimise patient care for planned surgery, both in person and over the phone.
• Maintain high standards of patient communication, confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications & Experience

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in health and social care.
• Relevant experience in an acute hospital or care setting preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and attention to detail.
• IT literacy and willingness to engage in training and development.
