Laserline Dies is a leading UK supplier of steel rule cutting dies and ancillary products. They serve major folding carton, corrugated packaging, greetings card, flexible circuit, and gasket manufacturing sectors.
What You’ll Do
As an apprentice, you will work at a company and gain hands‑on experience, learning new skills and working alongside experienced staff.
- Examine customer drawings and specifications, such as CAD drawings or descriptions, to visualise product and determine materials required and machines to be used.
- Compute dimensions and tooling layout, and determine assembly methods and sequence of operations, following operating procedures supplied.
- Calibrate material specified on each purchase order and measure stock before starting production.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as auto rule processors, grinding, chamfering, polishing, and laser machines.
- Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications and working tolerances, including dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Examine standard dies and tools.
- Manufacture products to pre‑agreed specifications and general descriptions for specialty tools and design of product.
Training Outcome
Level 2 apprenticeship qualification in engineering operative (Level 2) with a potential full‑time role upon completion.
