Enhance Catering are recruiting a chef for a permanent role in a Care Home

The Care Home believes in creating “a warm and loving family where everyone feels at home.” As a Chef, you’ll play a vital role in residents’ wellbeing by preparing nutritious, delicious meals and helping create a vibrant dining experience that feels truly special every day. The role includes preparing and cooking daily meals for residents and team members, supporting special occasions and events, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety in line with regulatory requirements. You will also help supervise and support Catering Assistants, ensuring a positive and collaborative kitchen environment. These responsibilities are outlined in the job description.

What You’ll be doing

  • Preparing and cooking high-quality, nutritious meals for residents and team members.
  • Supporting the Head Chef with menu planning, food preparation and kitchen organisation.
  • Catering for special occasions, private dining and events within the home.
  • Supervising and supporting Catering Assistants, helping to develop a positive team culture.
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and safe food handling standards.
  • Monitoring stock levels, food storage and kitchen records in line with environmental health requirements.
  • Working closely with care and lifestyle teams to ensure meals meet residents’ dietary needs, preferences and cultural diversity.
  • Building warm, respectful relationships with residents, relatives, visitors and colleagues.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Good people and relationship-building skills.
  • Positive work ethic and team-focused attitude.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work using your own initiative.
  • Full working knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Full working knowledge of Safe Food, Better Business Regulations.
  • Good record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Level 2 (or above).

Salary

  • £16 per hour
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 7am – 7pm – over 7 days, every other weekend.
