Fixed Term Consultant Paediatrician interest in Endocrine & Diabetes

An exciting opportunity to join a growing team in a modern, stand‑alone Children’s Hospital in Brighton. The post will complement the existing three consultants in the Endocrine and Diabetes team and support the planned addition of a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
It aims to establish a long‑term sustainable Endocrine and Diabetes department, achieving national care standards and meeting all 7 care processes for neonatal pre‑diabetes and diabetes annually.
Main duties
- Provide general paediatric endocrinology and diabetes services within the Children’s Hospital.
- Participate in clinical and other service activities to ensure a high standard of patient care.
- Actively contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.
- Support the management, development and delivery of the clinical service.
- Maintain GMC specialist registration and a licence to practise.
- Maintain the competencies required for the post.
- Attend agreed direct‑clinical‑care programmed activities promptly.
- Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views.

Knowledge
- Broad experience in paediatrics and endocrinology.
Organisation & Planning
- Experience working in multi‑professional teams.
- Understanding of NHS clinical governance and resource constraints.
- Evidence of managerial skills and achievements.
Teaching Skills
- Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
Academic & Research
- Evidence of participation in audit.
- Research experience.
- Publications.
Career Progression & Personal Attributes
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Appropriate progression of career to date.
Experience / Qualifications
- MRCPCH or equivalent.
- Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or eligibility to register within six months of interview.
- If trained in the UK: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Paediatrics (Endocrinology & Diabetes) within six months of interview.
- If trained outside the UK: evidence that qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT, confirmed by the GMC by date of application.
- Higher degree (where applicable).
- Additional sub‑specialty training.
- Training in Paediatric Endocrinology / Diabetes at consultant level.
Clinical Skills and Experience
- High level of clinical experience and competence in acute paediatrics and paediatric endocrinology and diabetes.
- Understanding of clinical risk management.
- Previous experience in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes at consultant level.
