Position
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Oncology based at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
40 hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What you will do
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Oncology to join the team at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, Kilmarnock, part of NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This is a full‑time substantive post, offering the chance to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality obstetric and gynaecological care to women across Ayrshire.
Hours and Shift Pattern
- Full‑time post
- Participation in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology out‑of‑hours rota
Role Overview
- Contribute to the delivery of comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological services
- Provide specialist input in gynaecological oncology
- Participate fully in clinical governance, teaching, audit, and service development
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across maternity, gynaecology, oncology, and wider women’s health services
Knowledge, training and/or experience required
Applicants should meet the essential and desirable criteria outlined in the person specification, including appropriate specialist training and experience relevant to obstetrics, gynaecology, and oncological care.
Full UK driving licence is essential to this role.
