Senior Medicine Management Technician – National Rehabilitation Centre

Do you have a passion for transforming the lives of people who have experienced severe injury or illness? At the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) you will join an innovative, forward‑thinking team committed to delivering first‑class rehabilitation to our patients.
We are looking for a registered pharmacy technician with a recognised accuracy‑checking qualification. Successful applicants will be instrumental in setting up and shaping the pharmacy service for this new area, supporting the future of rehabilitation in the UK.
You will work with pharmacists, medicines‑management assistants and other multidisciplinary members to optimise medicine use at the NRC, improving patient safety, experience and satisfaction. The role supports the dispensary, performs weekend duties and participates in the departmental rota on weekends, bank holidays and late duty as required.
Main duties
Improve and support patient care quality at admission and discharge through a professional medicines‑management service. This includes assessment and re‑use of patients’ own medications, accurate drug histories, thorough counselling, timely preparation of discharge prescriptions, one‑stop dispensing and authorised self‑checking, and storage & security support for ward teams.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
- General Pharmaceutical Council registered Pharmacy Technician
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (accredited scheme or evidence of in‑house validations)
- Medicine Management Assessments or Validations (accredited or proof of in‑house training)
Physical skills
- Good computer literacy and word‑processing/keyboard skills
- Experience using electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems
Experience
- Experience in admission/discharge processes within hospital pharmacy
- Experience managing and coordinating staff within hospital pharmacy
- Proven knowledge of computer labelling and stock control systems in hospital pharmacy
- Experience undertaking incident investigations
- Experience delivering staff training
Communication and relationship skills
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a wide range of staff and patients
- Ability to communicate complex or sensitive medicine‑management information effectively, clearly and concisely
