Job Description:

Site Manager (Overhead Lines)

Location: South & East Scotland – projects in Edinburgh, the Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, and South Ayrshire. Site‑based role with travel across multiple project locations.

Employment: Full‑time / Permanent, 37‑hour week. Salary up to £62,425, plus a strong benefits package and overtime opportunities. Pension scheme with double matching of contributions up to 10% of your salary.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage contractor programmes in line with overall project delivery timelines.
  • Oversee the construction and commissioning of overhead line projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Drive quality and environmental performance, ensuring mitigation measures are implemented and monitored.
  • Support the delivery of works across distribution and transmission networks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working on overhead line or transmission projects, ideally within utilities or infrastructure.
  • Exposure to projects across distribution and/or transmission networks (11kV – 400kV). Experience on higher voltage works (132kV, 275kV, or 400kV) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of overhead line construction, maintenance or commissioning activities (foundations, pole/tower erection, stringing or reconductoring).
  • Experience working within a DNO, utilities, or infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, site safety and temporary works.
  • Experience reviewing, approving or working with RAMS and permit systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with contractors and site teams.
  • Qualifications / certifications (or working towards): SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid.

Overtime: optional –Mon–Sat (8pm–midnight): Time & ½; Mon–Sat (midnight–8am): Double Time; Sundays: Double Time.

Annual leave: 36 days (additional days can be purchased). Business mileage: £0.45/mile up to 10,000 miles, £0.25 thereafter.
