ROLE SUMMARY
Lead Software Engineer – World Check One team, Nottingham‑based Risk Intelligence Product Engineering organisation. You will be the main engineer, liaising with product and architecture for the World‑Check One platform, a critical risk intelligence and compliance screening system.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Lead the design, development and deployment of software applications and services.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, designers and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance and security best practices.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards and promote continuous improvement.
- Manage project timelines, delivery risks and dependencies to ensure timely delivery.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate their adoption where appropriate.
- Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Proven experience in software engineering and a strong track record of leading successful projects.
- Proficiency in Java.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and system integration.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Skills and experience with web servers and databases (e.g. DynamoDB, RDBMS, Elasticsearch).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilising infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication and leadership skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Critical thinking and solid judgment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Positive attitude toward learning new skills and technologies.
