ROLE SUMMARY

Lead Software Engineer – World Check One team, Nottingham‑based Risk Intelligence Product Engineering organisation. You will be the main engineer, liaising with product and architecture for the World‑Check One platform, a critical risk intelligence and compliance screening system.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead the design, development and deployment of software applications and services.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, designers and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance and security best practices.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards and promote continuous improvement.
  • Manage project timelines, delivery risks and dependencies to ensure timely delivery.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate their adoption where appropriate.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Proven experience in software engineering and a strong track record of leading successful projects.
  • Proficiency in Java.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and system integration.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Skills and experience with web servers and databases (e.g. DynamoDB, RDBMS, Elasticsearch).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilising infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication and leadership skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Critical thinking and solid judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Positive attitude toward learning new skills and technologies.
