Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist – Learning Disabilities CAMHS

The post holder will work in the Community Learning Disability Team providing clinical and team leadership. The role will enhance the current nursing leadership service provision as a whole. The post holder will lead and work in collaboration, with the Nurse Leads and Clinical Leads and Head of Professions, Hub managers.
The post holder will assess care needs of children and young people with moderate to profound learning disabilities, implement care in a variety of settings, providing highly specialist advice and maintaining appropriate records. The post holder will provide specialist education and training to other staff, students, patients and carers.
The post holder will need to hold a relevant professional qualification (RMN) and hold current registration with the NMC.
Main duties of the job
- Act as a Senior CAMHS Practitioner within a defined community service (Solar).
- Manage a defined caseload within the service, developing specialised programmes of care to meet mental health needs of the 0‑18 population with a moderate to profound Learning Disability.
- Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care within agreed parameters, and possess a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation governing current service provision and audit.
- Provide supervision and consultancy to other mental health professionals and contribute to the development of psychological therapy provision within the service as appropriate.
- Ensure effective communication pathways exist.
- Promote equality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
- Have knowledge and completion of Continuing Healthcare Checklists.
- Identify and contribute to the training needs necessary in providing quality evidence‑based care.
- Provide professional leadership, day‑to‑day supervision and support for the defined team or teams, and take on a consultative role to develop skills, experience and expertise within the wider team.
Person Specification
- A current professional nursing qualification.
- Current registration with an appropriate professional body.
- Significant experience and knowledge of working at a senior nurse level.
- Experience of working with people with LD/A.
- Positive Behaviour Support Training.
- Knowledge of Continuing Healthcare Checklists.

£49,387 to £56,515 a year, pro rata.
