Registered Nursing Associate Grade Band 4, Permanent Contract at Harpenden Memorial Hospital, Town Harpenden. Main Duties
The role requires accurate clinical records, good clerical/administrative skills, and a commitment to professional development. Nursing associates will deliver evidence‑based care, practice within NMC Standards, recognise competence limits, work multidisciplinary, and maintain clinical competence.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver appropriate evidence‑based nursing care to an allocated group of patients.
- Practice as an accountable professional, working in accordance with NMC Standards of Proficiency and code of conduct.
- Recognise and work within limits of competence, seeking support and guidance when appropriate.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team using resources efficiently.
- Contribute to the delivery of high‑quality care and work effectively within the nursing team.
- Develop and maintain competence in a range of clinical procedures.
Working pattern:
- Participation in a seven‑day service is required.
- Weekend working included, maximum of three weekend days per roster period.
The role requires a full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business purposes (unless qualified under the Equality Act 2010).
Person Specification
Education/Qualification
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register or Apprentice Nursing Associate due to qualify, or Assistant Practitioner qualification.
- Minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice.
- GCSE grade 9‑4 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Care Certificate.
Experience
- Previous experience within a health/care setting in the relevant area.
- Experience working self‑directed or as part of a team.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Other
- Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business (unless designated disability).
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, non‑verbal) with patients, relatives, carers, and multidisciplinary team.
- IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems.
- Understanding of the Nursing Associate role scope within team and organisation.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalation to registered health or care professional.
- Ability to deal with unpredictable nature of workload and patient contact.
