Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful, employee‑owned company for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware and technically strong engineer looking to take the lead on a variety of challenging projects across multiple sectors, while playing a key role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continued success of the business.

Working Hours

Shift: 9am‑5pm Mon‑Fri, Flexible working hours.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead on projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Prepare structural design calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Coordinate designs with technicians and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Attend client meetings and undertake structural surveys.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors and other stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Review and check engineering designs, calculations and drawings.
  • Supervise and mentor Graduate Engineers within the team.
  • Assist with commercial and project management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with current design standards and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MICE/MIStructE) or nearing Chartership.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post‑graduate experience within a structural engineering background.
  • Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures.
  • Good knowledge of Eurocodes and UK design standards.
  • Proficiency with Tekla Structural Designer and TEDDS.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
