The Role

Senior Systems Engineer role within a leading engineering organisation developing advanced radar and sensing technologies. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute across the full systems engineering lifecycle, from concept and requirements capture through to integration, verification, customer acceptance and in-service support. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to work on technically challenging products alongside software, electronics and mechanical engineering teams.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept through to delivery and customer acceptance.
  • Develop system architectures, requirements and technical solutions.
  • Plan and support system integration, verification and validation activities.
  • Work closely with software, electronics and mechanical engineering teams throughout product development.
  • Identify, assess and manage technical risks across projects.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, specifications and engineering reports.
  • Participate in design reviews and customer-facing engineering activities.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers within the Systems Engineering team.
  • Contribute to multiple engineering projects across a diverse product portfolio.
  • Travel to customer and project sites when required.

About You

We’re looking for an engineer with a solid background in systems engineering and product development who enjoys solving complex technical challenges within multidisciplinary environments.

You will ideally have experience with:

  • Systems design, integration and testing.
  • The complete product lifecycle, from concept through to delivery.
  • Working across software, electronics and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Technical risk management.
  • Producing engineering documentation, specifications and technical reports.
  • Communicating effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Holding a full UK driving licence.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Radar or radio systems.
  • Communications protocols including RS232, RS485, TCP/IP or CANbus.
  • Defence, maritime or navigation systems.
  • Leading engineering work packages and design reviews.
  • Project planning and technical leadership.
  • EMC testing and compliance.
  • Electronic fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Oscilloscopes, multimeters and spectrum analysers.
  • Verification to MIL-STD, Def Stan or IEC standards.
  • Working within ESD-controlled environments.
  • Membership of a professional engineering institution such as the IET, IMechE or INCOSE.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
