2391 Electrician (Test & Inspect Engineer)

Location: HMP Whitemoor, March, PE15 0PR

Salary: £43,177.30 plus a 5% shift allowance for weekend working

Contract: Full time/Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated Test and Inspect Engineer to join our team at HMP Whitemoor, a High Security & adult/male prison. As a Test and Inspect Engineer you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

Work with a multidisciplinary team to conduct electrical testing and inspection duties, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and high‑security standards within a complex correctional environment.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience working as an electrician.
  • Two years of experience in a role as a test and inspection electrician or equivalent.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems and catering equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • C&G 2367 or 2357 (Electrical Installation).
  • C&G 2391 – Electrical inspection and testing.
  • NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition (Electrical Standards).
  • Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills.
